At the Department of Cultures, Politics and Society, all research, teaching and the third mission initiatives that contribute to society’s cultural, social and economic development through the transfer of knowledge are organized and managed by three bodies:
In performing their functions, these bodies are assisted by a number of departmental committees. The composition, responsibilities, powers and operation of the Department’s governing bodies are set forth in the Department Bylaws.
The Research Committee and the Teaching Committee plan and coordinate the Department’s research, third mission activities, and all of its teaching. These committees advise the Departmental Board and Council, help draft the Department’s annual and three-year plans and revisions of the scientific/cultural mission document, work to ensure that the Department’s resources and personnel are efficiently matched to specific objectives, and promote international exchanges.
The Department prepares a three-year plan (Italian page) for its research, teaching and third mission initiatives—including technology transfers and public engagement—and internationalization activities. Updated each year, the plan details the Department’s priority goals and commitments, and also covers the work of its research centres.
The Department has its own research staff (Italian page) and mother-tongue language instructors (Lectors; Italian page) to support its teaching and research, who report directly to the Director.
In addition, the Department relies on campus-wide management, technical and administrative services.

A campus-wide Coordinator reporting to the university’s General Manager ensures that processes involving multiple departments and services operate smoothly.
The Department is located on the Luigi Einaudi Campus together with the "Cognetti de Martiis" Department of Economics and Statistics and the Department of Law.
